The Council of Europe treats the learner as a social agent who uses language to accomplish real tasks. Our unit outcomes, mediation work, and A0–C2 progression follow that model.

You finish when you can understand the input, retrieve the language, and use it for a communicative task. The course is designed for English-speaking learners while steadily reducing dependence on English.
Functional proficiency
ACTFL describes what a learner can actually do across speaking, writing, listening, and reading. Every unit trains and assesses all four domains.

Twenty-eight five-chapter units move from input to vocabulary, grammar, integrated practice, and a closed-book mission.
Every unit explicitly teaches 12 high-use words and expressions, then assigns a new frequency band for personal expansion, collocations, and word families.
The complete productive learner grammar is sequenced into the textbook, from sound and cases through aspect, syntax, discourse, genre, and mediation.
Listening, reading, speaking, writing, interaction, and mediation all receive repeated practice and evidence-based assessment.

WHAT COUNTS AS COMPLETE
Evidence, not a checkbox.
A chapter completion record should mean that you engaged with the language. These gates are intentionally small enough to repeat and strict enough to catch skimming.

English explanations, stress marks, translations, and explicit comparisons prevent avoidable confusion.
Instructions become bilingual; longer Russian passages appear before any translation.
Russian definitions, paraphrase, and monolingual tasks become the default.
Authentic Russian, register analysis, mediation, literature, and professional production dominate.
No organization approves one universal Russian-learning method.
CEFR and ACTFL define proficiency and assessment outcomes; they do not certify a single commercial course sequence. СЛОВО uses their descriptors as targets and combines them with corpus-based Russian grammar, retrieval practice, spaced review, comprehensible input, deliberate output, and feedback. A learner still needs sustained reading, listening, conversation, correction, and time.
